History of the LLUK

In 2007 at the Bradford Championship Show a new National Club was formed with an enthusiastic committee and became affiliated to by the British Rabbit Council. Jane Bramley, the driving force behind the breed at that time, was elected as Chairperson. This Club was named Lion Lops UK. The first ever Stock Shows were held at the large prestigious six star BRC Show at Stafford in June 2007. Overall Best Lion Lop of both the adult and young stock shows of accepted and unstandardised colours was Upton's Constable, a Red Eyed White bred by Jane Bramley. This buck went on to win overall Best Lion Lop at the next adult and young Stock shows at Newark, too - even though still an unstandardised colour! Constable was, by this time, owned by Becky Hughes. The following year saw stock shows at four venues - a total of seven show in all. Please go along to our Gallery of Stars photo album to see the rabbits who impressed the judges at these shows. 2008 also saw the first official ballot of committee members and judges with two panels, one of breeders and the other an open panel. These took effect from January 2009. Should you need to chat to anyone about this breed or the club, you can contact any of the committee, their contact details are listed for your convenience.

Our Chairperson, Jane Bramley, transferred her Certificate of Development of the Miniature Lion Lop to the LLUK and the club continued to present further colours to the British Rabbit Council for acceptance to the official Standard. For details of the colours and the standard, please go to the Standard page,

Lion Lops UK is working hard to develop and improve the overall standard of Lion Lops in the UK and abroad. It cares for the members interests and provides Stock Shows for them to show off their beautiful rabbits. The LLUK actively encourages exchange of stock between members and providing good foundation stock to newbies to the club and breed. The LLUK is keen to inform and educate about the breed and to encourage all members to take an active part in the development of both the Mini Lion Lop and the LLUK itself.
